South west sales teams give time to community project

Earlier this month, the South West sales team from ICI Paints AkzoNobel donned its overalls to paint Weston Hospicecare, in Weston-super-Mare. All 11 members of the team prepared and painted three rooms at the hospice as part of a wider company initiative to give something back to the communities within which the company operates.

Duncan Lochhead, Regional Sales Manager at ICI Paints AkzoNobel, commented: "The hospice was chosen by the sales team as a worthy partner for this project because of the fantastic work it does within its local community, providing a high standard of skilled medical and nursing care for anyone who has a life threatening illness."

The sales team used the opportunity to further familiarise itself with the company's most sustainable paint range, Ecosure, using a combination of Ecosure Matt for the walls and ceilings, and Ecosure Undercoat and Gloss for the doors and trim.

Duncan concludes: "One of the hospice managers commented that the work we did would have cost the hospice the equivalent of three times its monthly drugs bill, and like many hospices, Weston Hospicecare receives a contribution from the NHS but the vast majority of its funding comes from charitable fundraising and donations, so it was great to be able to offer the team there a helping hand."

This was the first project of its kind in the South West but will be an annual project going forward.
