Dulux Trade shares best practice and colour expertiseat BSEC

Colour and sustainable coatings expert Dulux Trade will be exhibiting at the Building Schools Exhibition and Conference (BSEC) 2009, with an engaging, interactive stand that demonstrates how simple, inexpensive changes can make all the difference in creating inspirational, stimulating education environments.

At a time when budgets are closely scrutinised and environmental impact continues to sit high on the agenda, Dulux Trade will also show how maintenance cycles can be extended and energy savings can be made with its innovative, industry leading solutions.

Now in its fourth year, BSEC combines a high level conference and exhibition at Manchester Central. It attracts over 150 exhibitors and 2,500 attendees from the public and private sectors who are at the forefront of UK school building initiatives. BSEC covers the Government's school building programmes - Building Schools for the Future, City Academies and the Primary Capital Programme - in addition to traditional PFI projects, focusing on the construction, maintenance and design of schools both old and new.

Building on the Dulux Trade 'How Can Schools Achieve Results With Colour' guide, the impressive 8m x 3m ICI Paints (Part of AkzoNobel) stand, 544, will have a dedicated colour consultant on site to provide exclusive previews of signature colour schemes for education, and who will demonstrate effective colour scheming to visitors. The brochure itself will also be available on the stand, which gives tips on best practice from how colour and design can enhance the learning environment, to the importance of involving end users in the design process, understanding the language of colour, and the role of colour in helping visually impaired pupils to safely navigate their way around school buildings.

Dulux Trade appreciates that in the current economic climate, budgets are tighter than ever, and it's crucial for us to support all those involved in education sector building and refurbishment. With our inspirational colour choice, expert specification support service and quality products, Dulux Trade can help professionals in both the public and private education sectors to choose the best decorating solutions to maximise budgets, extend maintenance cycles and minimise disruption on site, ultimately improving the teaching and learning experience for end users.

From corridors to classrooms, colour is not only a highly effective way to transform the learning environment but also an extremely cost effective one. And, if all concerned parties are involved when planning colour schemes, they will better engage with and relate to the final design. We understand that colour scheming can seem a scary process to most, so we're bringing one of our expert colour consultants to the show to help visitors get started, and provide an introduction to our innovative software, similar to MousePainter, that allows specifiers to try out various colour schemes, especially suitable for schools, and see how they would work in situ.

The Dulux Trade stand will also feature its industry-leading ´step towards greener´ products - those that deliver significant cost and environmental savings. The Dulux Trade Diamond range, for example, is a stain resistant, washable formulation that is ten times more durable than standard paints and thereby extends maintenance cycles, while Dulux Trade Light & Space not only makes rooms look and feel brighter and more spacious, but uses Lumitec technology to reflect light back into a room. This means that rooms painted with the product can achieve the same levels of illumination using up to 28 per cent less artificial light. Term after term, this adds up to significant energy savings.

As well as helping to transform school environments, Dulux Trade is committed to working in partnership with its customers to reduce the impact of its products on the wider environment. The Ecosure range from Dulux Trade has been developed in collaboration with leading independent sustainability experts Forum for the Future, to provide the optimum balance of performance and sustainability.

Dulux Trade looks forward to welcoming BSEC visitors to its stand to discuss its innovative solutions in more detail.
