The eco-revolution continues: Dulux Trade launches new Light & Space products

Following the huge success of the Light & Space range, the experts at Dulux Trade have harnessed the properties of the company’s unique Light & Space technology to bring three exciting propositions to market that offer specifiers stunning decorating solutions with unrivalled environmental benefits.

Light & Space is an intelligent, energy saving colour range that makes a room look and feel lighter, brighter and more spacious. Using a combination of unique LumitecTM technology, optimised tinting recipes and a range of high Light Reflectance Value (LRV) colours, this exciting new range is able to reflect instead of absorb light, meaning it is distributed around the room more effectively.

There can also be significant energy cost savings versus a conventional emulsion in a similar colour - up to 20 per cent on average. As the light is reflected as opposed to being absorbed into the wall, this reduces the need for costly artificial lighting and also allows energy efficient, lower wattage light bulbs to be used to the same effect as standard bulbs. Lights can also be switched on up to twenty minutes later every day, all of which equates to turning off one in every five 60W filament bulbs.

Dulux Trade has combined the excellent opacity and accessibility of Vinyl Matt with the Light & Space colour range. This offers all the expected application and performance benefits of traditional Vinyl Matt, and is great at brightening up low traffic areas.

The Light & Space colour range has now been fused with Diamond technology to create a new Diamond Eggshell variant, to sit alongside the existing Diamond Matt finish currently available. The Diamond Eggshell is ten times tougher than vinyl silks and ten times more stain resistant than standard water-based eggshell, giving professional specifiers sustainability and durability in a single paint product. Its hard-wearing mid-sheen finish increases maintenance cycles from two to five years, lowering the overall carbon footprint of a project.

Another exciting and innovative addition to the range is Ecosure Matt Light & Space, in which Dulux Trade has created a solution unparalleled in sustainability. Originally developed with leading independent charity Forum for the Future, Ecosure has 35 per cent less embodied carbon, minimum VOC content, and its paint cans comprise at least 25 per cent recycled materials. In combining this with the energy saving potential of Light & Space, Ecosure Matt Light & Space cements the Dulux Trade position as the leading, environmentally aware provider of sustainable paint.
