Painting the past: Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt is chosen for the finest finish

Award-winning Dulux Trade Contract Partner, A C Beck & Sons, has been involved in the construction of the new Margaret Thatcher Infirmary at The Royal Hospital Chelsea, home of the Chelsea Pensioners. As principal painting and decorating contractor, A C Beck & Sons was tasked with achieving a high quality, durable finish for the extension, which crucially, is sympathetic to the rest of the property's 17th century design.

As part of the construction of the new 125 bed infirmary, A C Beck & Sons used trusted Dulux Trade products. To create an immaculate and durable finish for the building's interior, Dulux Trade Vinyl Silk was applied to the walls and Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt to the ceilings, to ensure the new building stays looking smart for years to come.

The construction of the Margaret Thatcher Infirmary, which was led by Wates Construction, forms the second stage of a three-phase development plan. During the project, all Pensioner living accommodation at The Royal Hospital will be modernised, while the character of Christopher Wren's original 1682 design is retained.

Steve Beck, of painting contractor A C Beck & Sons, says: "As part of the Dulux Trade Contract Partnership scheme, we offer the reassurance of quality, Dulux-accredited workmanship, and the reliability crucial to such a prestigious project. We also have access to Dulux Trade experts, which means we can deliver painting advice that's second to none. We chose to use Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt because we know from experience that it provides a flawless finish, has an excellent spreading rate, and is best in class for opacity . We also used Dulux Trade Vinyl Silk because of its stain resistance and washability, to complement the flawless finish in the bedrooms."

So impressive was the work at The Royal Hospital Chelsea that A C Beck & Sons received a highly commended accolade from the Painting and Decorating Association (PDA), which recognised the superior finish of the project. The painting contractor has since signed a framework agreement with Wates Construction and is currently working on Southampton General Hospital.
