Dulux Trade helps bring listed cottage back to life

The interior of Rose Cottage, a grade II listed cottage in Fallowfield, Manchester, has been dramatically transformed using a selection of Dulux Trade coatings. Specifically, Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt and Dulux Trade Satinwood were selected to restore the home by property renovation and interior design company, Moregeous Design.

When Rose Cottage was purchased by its new owner, it was sodden with damp and needed extensive structural repairs. Working with Moregeous Design, the owner renovated the property aiming to achieve a balance of modern contemporary styling, with 'shabby chic' period charm.

To achieve this look, Sian Astley, owner of Moregeous Design, developed a colour and paint specification using a range of Dulux Trade coatings. "To create a light, airy and fresh appearance, I selected Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt in Gardenia for the two bedrooms, hallway, kitchen and landing in the property. I opted for this range as it delivers the highest standard of finish which was required for this gorgeous property." Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt offers excellent coverage, is easy to apply, and is formulated for greater pigmentation to give a solid colour.

Sian continued: "In terms of colour, I opted for Gardenia as it's the perfect blend of modern and heritage tones. It brightens the walls but is subtle enough to not overwhelm the listed building."

To continue the metamorphosis, all internal woodwork and windows were treated with Dulux Trade Satinwood, again in Gardenia. "Dulux Trade Satinwood was chosen as it dries to a satin finish, so gives the modern look we wanted," said Sian. The paint was also chosen for its exceptional durability. "I wanted something that would keep the cottage looking fresh for years to come, and ensure the colour scheme remains as pristine as the day it was applied."

A testament to the property's high quality design and finish, Rose Cottage was featured on the popular ITV program, May The Best House Win, and was awarded first place after gaining the highest score. Concluding, Sian added: "We're extremely proud to have been involved in this high profile project, and thoroughly enjoyed working with the client to bring this beautiful house into the 21st century."

Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt is ideal for most sealed interior wall and ceilings surfaces, such as previously painted plaster and drywall, woodchip, and blown vinyl wallcoverings. Flexible in colour choice, Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt is available in over 14,000 shades.

A modern solvent based satin finish, Dulux Trade Satinwood is formulated to be hardwearing and dirt resistant, and as with Vinyl Matt, Satinwood is available in a palette of 14,000 colours.
