A stunning self-build project in Glastonbury is set to impress for years to come, as the external masonry and joinery have been protected using products from the Dulux Trade Weathershield range.
Owner Lee Salter designed the colonial-style home, distinguished by its sweeping veranda. This period style is epitomised by a gleaming façade, and the building’s bright, white exterior exudes grandness. That ‘just painted’ look is crucial if the house’s striking presence is to be maintained.
Decorator, Paul Goddard, therefore recommended the Dulux Trade Weathershield range for the masonry and trim.
Weathershield Smooth Masonry Paint was used for the building’s render. The specialist exterior paint contains a fungicide to inhibit mould growth on the paint film, helping it stay cleaner for longer. Paul said: “It’s a beautiful home, and Lee wanted it to stay looking good for as long as possible. I’ve used Weathershield products for years and know how well they perform. Now that the work has been completed the paint should provide extensive protection for up to 15 years – that’s exceptional!”
Given the terrible British summer this year, the quick drying properties of Weathershield Smooth Masonry Paint were also a blessing. The product is particularly suitable for use in changeable weather and is shower resistant in just 30 minutes, meaning jobs are less likely to be affected by constant delays. For housing projects in particular, where works schedules are so crucial, this is particularly beneficial.
Weathershield Quick Drying Satin Finish was used on the veranda pillars and fascias. The water-based, mid-sheen finish is part of a system specially developed by Dulux Trade to give long lasting protection, and will provide extensive protection for up to six years. Again, the fast drying properties of Weathershield Quick Drying Satin Finish meant the job could be completed with fewer disruptions.
Said owner Lee Salter, “There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing your vision realised, and knowing that the home I’m so proud of will stay looking its best for year’s to come is fantastic.” |
