Glidden Trade gives commercial edge on schools PFI

Interior paints from Glidden Trade have provided the perfect combination of commercial and quality benefits for a three-school PFI project in West London.

Acton High School, Featherstone Primary School and Greenford High School were delivered by the Seafort Consortium on behalf of the London Borough of Ealing and constructed by Costain Limited.

Glidden Trade interior paints were used throughout; Glidden Trade Vinyl Matt in the classrooms and Glidden Trade Eggshell in the corridors for greater durability, with all the paint applied directly onto fair-faced concrete block work. The predominant colour was pure white, with feature colours matching the architect's specification drawn from the standard Glidden Trade colour range.

As Steve Beck of painting contractor AC Beck explains, "School projects such as this, where there are large painted areas of block work, take a lot of paint, so I am pleased with the cost advantage that the Glidden Trade products give us. I also like the fact that it gives a good commercial quality – and that I am using a product that has the support of ICI Paints behind it."

Costain agrees that it was the right choice for the job.

"AC Beck proposed using Glidden Trade paints for the schools, and they gave us the right performance at the right price," it said.
