A great save at QPR with Metalshield

Dulux Trade Metalshield is defending Queens Park Rangers' Loftus Road stadium against the elements following the redecoration of their Ellerslie Road Stand.

Dulux Trade Contract Partners, Manilva Contracts, worked on the seven-week project to re-paint the roof's steel structure following the failure, over time, of the previous traditional gloss coating. QPR upgraded to Metalshield as the product is specially formulated for exterior metal and offers up to 8 years durability.

Employing new 'Barrier Technology' to lock out air and moisture, Metalshield delivers extended protection, increases maintenance cycles and is guaranteed to save time and money

John Byrne, general manager at Manilva Contracts said, "As Metalshield has faster drying times, the three-coat system could be completed in just over one working day – rather than the three working days required for conventional methods. This meant considerable savings for QPR as the cost of hiring scaffolding was reduced by the job being completed quickly, in fact one week ahead of schedule."

The single tiered stand, first built in 1972, is currently sponsored by Alfred McAlpine Homes. A 'QPR Blue' was chosen from Metalshield's tinted range of 1500 colours. The system encompassed one coat of Metalshield Zinc Phosphate Primer, specially formulated for ferrous metal, followed by two coats of Metalshield Gloss Finish. Nearly 600 litres was required to complete the job.

Metalshield is part of the Dulux Trade Specialist Products range, a comprehensive range of performance coatings formulated for specific problem solving or for the long-term protection of substrates for commercial environments.
