Combe Bank School gets top marks for presentation after an exterior makeover using Dulux Trade Weathershield Maximum Exposure Smooth Masonry Paint. Formulated to protect against the severest of elements, the specialist exterior coating gives up to 15 years protection, meaning Combe Bank School will stay looking top class for years to come.
Combe Bank, based near Sevenoaks, is an independent school for girls aged from three to eighteen. The magnificent Grade I listed Palladian house, set in 27 acres of parkland, was built by Roger Morris in 1720. Interestingly, the house was once owned by Sir Robert Mond, a founder of ICI.
The school’s own works department undertook the project to restore the grand entrance, which was marred by dirty, peeling paintwork. The redecoration took place over the school summer holidays, and took the whole two months.
“There were a number of reasons why we specified Weathershield Maximum Exposure Smooth Masonry Paint”, said Dominic Rossi, Bursar, at Combe Bank School. “It’s an expensive and time consuming task to undertake exterior decoration on this scale, so we were looking for a highly durable paint that would mean we didn’t have to redecorate again for many years.
“We’ve had problems in the past with inconsistency of colour and paint failing within just a few years, the superior opacity and durability of Weathershield Maximum Exposure Smooth Masonry Paint won me over on both counts.
“In addition, we had a defined period in which the work could take place, so we couldn’t afford to be at the mercy of the weather. Weathershield Maximum Exposure Smooth Masonry Paint is shower resistant in just 15 minutes, meaning we were able to decorate even on changeable days.”
Dulux Trade Weathershield Maximum Exposure Smooth Masonry paint is both salt and chemical resistant and capable of protecting against the severest of elements. Unique ICI technology makes Weathershield Maximum Exposure Smooth Masonry Paint up to five times more flexible than conventional masonry paints. It resists flaking and cracking for longer and works harder in-between maintenance cycles to cut down on costly preparation work when it comes to redecoration. |
