The former magnificence of Cheltenham Town Hall has been restored and the original interior décor re-created, using Dulux Trade’s expertise and the Heritage range of traditional period colours.
Built in 1903, the centrepiece of the Cheltenham Town Hall is the main hall, distinguished by its Corinthian style columns and coved ceiling. Sadly, over time the colour scheme had moved away from the original décor, losing its historical significance. Cheltenham Town Hall was keen to return the hall back to its original grandeur, as part of a major redecoration programme, and called upon Dulux Trade to assist with colour specification.
Paint sample analysis was able to determine the colours that were used in the original decoration. From this, Dulux Trade colour consultants were able to devise a colour scheme sympathetic to the original design, using the Heritage range of traditional period colours in a modern paint finish.
The colour schemes were presented using Previews, Dulux Trade’s visualisation equipment. Photographs of the hall were taken and digitally changed to show alternative designs. Reserved for larger scale, more complex projects Previews provides a ‘real life’ image of how an area will look after decoration.

Dulux Trade Contract Partners J S Seddon Painting Ltd carried out the decoration work, using Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt and Satinwood finishes, tinted in the Heritage colours. The Heritage range comprises colour palettes from the Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian and Art Deco periods, complemented by a Classic Whites range. Ideal for restoring period properties, or introducing a period atmosphere to a newer property, Heritage combines historical authenticity with the latest paint technology, for the perfect finish. |
